What Can Liposuction Surgery Do?
Reduce Fat
Liposuction is used to remove unwanted and stubborn fat from the face and body.
During the procedure, fat in the targeted area(s) is suctioned out of the face or body to leave patients with a smoother and more contoured appearance.
With regards to the face, liposuction can be used to create a more shapely and defined jawline (getting rid of a double chin) or to remove excess fat in the neck (to help correct a “turkey neck”).
Restore Lost Volume
Fat grafting (also known as fat transfer) is one of the most transformative procedures available. Many people find themselves suffering from sunken areas of the face, especially underneath the eyes and in the cheeks, lips, and along the jawline.
For this procedure, liposuction is used to remove fat from an area of the body. This fat is then processed and injected into areas of the body where volume loss has occurred. Fat transfer helps patients enjoy a more youthful appearance.
Increase Confidence
Many people who suffer from excess fat in their faces (or from volume loss in their faces) feel embarrassed about their appearance. This can cause them to cover their faces with hats, glasses, and other accessories. However, liposuction can help patients regain confidence in the way their faces and bodies look. No longer will they feel the need to hide themselves away from others. Instead, men and women can feel comfortable with others seeing them for who they really are.

Anesthesia
Liposuction can be performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia; however, general anesthesia is generally reserved for patients who are undergoing more extensive liposuction procedures. Either anesthesia option will limit the pain and discomfort that you experience during your surgery.
Dr. Butler offers tumescent liposuction, which involves injecting a solution into the treatment area to expand the fat layer. The tumescent solution can help to relieve pain both during and after your liposuction procedure.
Liposuction Procedure
Once the anesthesia has been administered, Dr. Butler will make small incisions in your treatment area(s). A thin, hollow tube called a cannula is then inserted through the incisions and is used to loosen the excess fat. Once the fat is loose, it is vacuumed out of the treatment area through the cannula.
Along with increased comfort during the procedure, tumescent liposuction is generally considered a safer alternative to traditional liposuction and also does not require sutures to be used once the surgery is complete.
