In Your 20s
At BUTLER Facial Plastic Surgery we offer so many exciting options to maintain and enhance appearance for those in their 20s. Use of sunscreens, medical-grade skin care which our office personally selects, and aesthetician services for acne and other damaging conditions are stressed. We supplement these with scar treatments, judicious BOTOX and filler injections, laser treatments and dermabrasion when appropriate.
Otoplasty for misshapen or protruding ears can boost confidence and reduce self-consciousness about a feature that draws unwanted attention.
Rhinoplasty surgery for aesthetic reshaping of the nose makes more attractive a feature which may mar an otherwise attractive face. Simultaneous airway improvement is Dr. Butler’s focus, a double boarded facial plastic and head and neck surgeon.
Lip Reshaping to provide attractive volume and form is done with simple injections, or with outpatient procedures that yield natural, lasting results. At the same time, a Lip Lift for a long upper lip, enhances the smile and lip pout.
Facial definition for those with a weak chin, chubby face or flat cheekbones is permanently accentuated or refined with scarless implants or buccal fat reduction. Neck Liposuction for the dreaded familial double chin, works wonders to define the jawline in this age group.
Procedures
In your 30s
All of the treatments and procedures applicable to “Twenty-Somethings” apply to this age group.
Filler injections are big with those in their 30s. The desirability of lip enhancement becomes even more sought after. Early signs of hollowing under the eyes, and some creasing at the corners of the mouth are easily treated with avariety of injectable fillers. Benefits last for 6 to 24 months depending on the chosen filler. Volumizing with simple filler injections gives beautiful cheekbones to those born with less definition of the midface, and can enhance weak chin definition. For some, this is a way of “trying on” a surgical chin implant before deciding on surgery.
Medical facials performed by our specially trained aestheticians employ medical-grade products that considerably slow the aging clock.
Transconjunctival blepharoplasty erases eyelid bags without scars, and can be easily supplemented by no downtime laser treatments for skin firming.
Nonsurgical suture lifts, such as the Silhouette Lift, require no incisions and are used for early facial laxity in this age group.
Procedures
In your 40s
In the early 40s, BOTOX and other injectables muscle relaxing agents are used for crowsfeet and forehead creases (furrows above the origin of the nose), and volumizing fillers plus fractional laser or radiofrequency skin tightening, are still great adjuncts to medical grade skin care.
The Mini Lift (conservative rejuvenation of the forehead, cheeks and neck) with a 10-day downtime, will work magic for many. Any surgical mark is hidden in natural creases or within the hairline.
For those with more advanced signs of aging, the Vertical Lift of Face and Neck is the right way to go. This is often combined with brow and lid rejuvenation, facial fat grafting for volume restoration, and with laser treatments.
Procedures
In your 50s
Experience and research shows that it is not just stretching, creasing, laxity of skin, and the loss of underlying volume that contributes to sagging and aged appearance. The facial and jaw bones also undergo changes.
Use of Facial Implants restores the definition and support that characterizes the youthful face. Chin, cheek, and temple implants are very effective ways of restoring natural volume, and minimize the amount of “excess skin” that would otherwise be trimmed in various lifting procedures.
Lip lifting and reshaping is also commonly done, and attention is paid to the possible need for cosmetic dental restoration which supports the soft tissues of the face and promotes jaw health.
Procedures
In Your 60s and Beyond
People who maintain good nutrition, exercise, and sun protection, continue to exude a vibrant image and personality to well into advanced age; some into their 90s. Advances in rejuvenative medicine promise to extend youthful life considerably longer than that.
All of the previously mentioned treatments and surgeries continue to be appropriate and effective for people in their 60s, 70s, and 80s as long as they are deemed in basic good health by their primary physician and by Dr. Butler.
Lip and chin pad lifting can be surprisingly attractive in this age group, and are often combined with pre-jowl implants that address unsightly grooves along the jawline.
Conservative Rhinoplasty addresses the elongation, drooping, and bulbous changes that time will impose on a previously beautiful or handsome nose.
Gravity is a fact of life, and does not stop though we may wish it so. Secondary Face and Neck Lifting is often sought by those who have gotten great benefit from lifting 15 or more years before.
The nasal tip, lip and smile lifts, smile and chin pad lifts, are also very helpful conservative measures that can be performed as stand-alone treatments or in combination with other surgeries.
Filler and fat grafting with laser treatments help to camouflage outstanding veins in the face and hands, and Earlobe Reshaping can make more youthful the stretching and growth-with-time that alters these features.
As novel techniques and treatments are developed, we look forward to making these available to our patients
